Job Description
A Cloud Engineer at Planet is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure on GCP and AWS, automating operations, troubleshooting systems, and implementing networking solutions to support the company's satellite data platform and mission to observe and understand the Earth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code on GCP and AWS
- Automate operational tasks and improve system reliability through scripting
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
- Implement and manage networking solutions within cloud environments to ensure secure and efficient data flow
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and secure
- Create self-service cloud environments for internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient resource utilization
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud platforms in line with company values
Requirements
- Four years of relevant experience in cloud engineering or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
- Proficient experience with cloud platforms GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and AWS (Amazon Web Services).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform.
- Experience with scripting languages including Bash, Python, and Golang.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.
- Experience working with containers and container orchestration platforms such as Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing and managing networking solutions within cloud environments to ensure secure and efficient data flow.
- Ability to design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code on GCP and AWS.
- Ability to automate operational tasks and improve system reliability through scripting.
