Job Description
The role involves supporting and maintaining satellite operations by developing critical software, analyzing data, troubleshooting anomalies, and deploying software updates for Planet's Earth Observation satellite constellation. It requires collaboration within a technical team and a data-driven approach to ensure the health and productivity of the satellite fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily satellite operations by monitoring and maintaining the health of the satellite fleet
- Develop, test, and deploy mission-critical software for satellite operations
- Analyze satellite data to identify, triage, and resolve anomalies
- Perform on-orbit experiments and test software upgrades on satellites
- Create and maintain operational procedures for satellite missions
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at an accredited university for an advanced degree in an Engineering, Aerospace, or Software, or Science related field
- Software development experience, particularly in Python or similar languages
- Familiarity with the space environment and its challenges
- Data-driven mindset with experience in statistical analysis
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills within a technical team
- Self-starter that proactively tackles problems and brings in their own ideas
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
