Job Description
The role involves supporting and developing software for the operation and maintenance of Planet's satellite constellation, including analyzing data, troubleshooting anomalies, deploying software updates, and conducting on-orbit experiments to ensure optimal satellite performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily satellite operations and maintain the health of the satellite constellation
- Develop, test, and deploy real-time software solutions for satellite missions
- Analyze satellite data, troubleshoot anomalies, and perform on-orbit experiments
- Create and update operational procedures for satellite operations
- Support software upgrades and debugging of satellite systems
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at an accredited university for an advanced degree in an Engineering, Aerospace, or Software, or Science related field
- Software development experience, particularly in Python or similar languages
- Familiarity with the space environment and its challenges
- Data-driven mindset with experience in statistical analysis
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills within a technical team
- Self-starter that proactively tackles problems and brings in their own ideas
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, and employment or hiring of a contractor is contingent upon the candidate's ability to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
