The Lead Mechanical Engineer, Fluids will provide technical leadership in designing and developing fluid systems for ocean energy devices, overseeing the entire lifecycle from concept to deployment, and building a team to support future iterations of the technology.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee fluid systems for the Node device throughout all project stages.
Build and lead a team responsible for fluid system design as the company scales.
Conduct design reviews and collaborate with internal teams, fabricators, and vendors.
Mentor and guide engineers and designers to maintain technical excellence.
Create and manage detailed engineering documentation, including drawings and GD&T.
Partner with testing teams and external resources to ensure system performance and reliability.
Develop and maintain expertise in CAD and simulation software for fluid system design.
Requirements
A degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, naval architecture, marine engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
Extensive experience designing components for fluid systems from a variety of materials for various applications.
10 years of 3D CAD modeling experience.
5 years experience with complex, safety critical, or high performance fluid systems.
Strong fundamental skills with hand calculations and experience with simulation tools.
Demonstrated experience building teams, leading, and mentoring other engineers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to provide guidance to and receive it from engineers, designers, technicians, and suppliers.
A work history that includes at least five design, build, test, deploy release produce cycles for complex systems vehicles.
Travel to vendors and test sites as needed.
Intermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs.
