Job Description

The Fleet Operations Lead Engineer will oversee the safe and efficient operation of autonomous wave power generators in ocean conditions, including fleet management, system monitoring, and operational protocol design to maximize energy production and ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities

Own Node fleet at-sea operations from deployment to decommissioning
Provide input to fleet control software for GUI design and standards
Design and update fleet operation protocols and standards
Coordinate fleet movement strategies to maximize power production
Develop and oversee node operator qualification and training programs
Monitor node physical health and coordinate maintenance or return to port
Ensure nodes operate safely, avoiding shipping lanes and shallow waters
Design and manage the physical layout of the fleet control room

Requirements

A degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or another related discipline.
At least 5 years of experience with marine operations including operations planning accounting for ocean conditions, water depth, geography, and weather.
Extensive experience learning and operating complex mechanical and electrical systems for vehicles or products in challenging, high-consequence environments.
Demonstrated history of integrating operational requirements into hardware and GUI design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide and receive guidance across various technical levels.
Travel to Portland intermittently.
Ability to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs.
