Job Description
A Corporate Counsel role responsible for providing legal support on commercial, governance, risk, and compliance matters to support the company's growth in the clean energy sector. The position involves drafting and negotiating agreements, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risks, and collaborating across departments to drive business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support and establish positive relationships with business partners across various functions.
- Maintain and negotiate core agreements with customers, vendors, and partners.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and vendor agreements.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory, licensing, and licensing-related matters.
- Implement systems and processes to scale the legal team's capabilities.
- Assess legal compliance and advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and business strategies.
- Collaborate across functions to deliver legal advice aligned with business objectives.
- Manage consumer escalations and handle disputes such as litigation and arbitration.
- Develop and deliver legal training and promote awareness of compliance and risk management.
Requirements
- Juris doctorate from an accredited law school admitted to at least one state bar in the U.S.
- Five or more years of legal experience in regulated businesses, with in-house counsel experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to learn on the job and develop in new areas of the law and drive new applications of existing laws to support innovation
- Motivated self-starter with a strong ownership mentality who creatively identifies and resolves issues
- Open to learning new aspects of in-house legal work and motivated by hands-on tasks
- Ability to prioritize and work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment while delivering at a high level with a collaborative, customer service approach
- Exceptional degree of integrity, ethics, and trust, and highly professional with the ability to maintain confidence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
