Job Description

The Procurement Manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing long-lead electrical equipment procurement for renewable energy projects, ensuring technical and commercial alignment, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination to support project timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for long-lead and high-impact electrical equipment packages.
  • Build and maintain procurement plans, including scope definition, vendor lists, RFQ schedules, and logistics planning.
  • Lead RFQ processes, vendor selection, technical clarification cycles, and produce recommendation packages.
  • Establish and manage master service agreements, preferred vendor frameworks, and standard commercial templates.
  • Track market inputs such as commodity indices, tariffs, and FX rates to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure specifications are aligned, complete, and traceable before purchase order release.
  • Manage delivery risks by monitoring manufacturing slots, vendor commitments, and logistics constraints.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, construction, finance, legal, and development teams to ensure scope and procurement alignment.
  • Build and maintain procurement infrastructure, including vendor lists, submittal registers, and document control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, equipment sourcing, or project procurement for complex projects in energy, utility, industrial, EPC, or comparable sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in procuring long-lead electrical equipment such as MV switchgear, transformers, breakers, protection systems, and managing the RFQ, submittal, FAT, and delivery lifecycle independently.
  • Proven ability to lead disciplined vendor clarification cycles, including RFI logs, addenda, and bid forms, that force apples-to-apples comparability and prevent scope/specification drift.
  • Strong commercial judgment across pricing structures, escalation, payment terms, warranties, lead-time concepts, and risk allocation.
  • High rigor in scope definition, bid comparisons, and traceability of assumptions into budgets and decision packages.
  • Experience operating across cross-functional teams including Pre-construction, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Legal.
  • Excellent writing and executive communication skills, capable of producing clear recommendation memos and decision packages.
  • Comfortable adopting procurement workflows in systems such as Kahua, Procore, Coupa, NetSuite, or similar.
  • Ability to independently identify common scope and interface risks, including scope inclusions/exclusions, protection controls interfaces, metering CT/PT needs, and commissioning support expectations, and escalate issues clearly to Engineering/EOR.
  • Experience building category strategies and preferred vendor programs that scale across high-volume portfolios, especially in dense-urban environments.
  • Experience supporting procurement of MV electrical packages in dense-urban projects with tight delivery windows, rigging constraints, utility, and AHJ interface.
  • Extremely organized, process-oriented, and disciplined about document control, with low tolerance for ambiguous scope, un-owned lead-time risk, or undocumented commitments.
  • Proactive risk management mindset that surfaces issues early with clear options and recommended mitigations.
  • Ability to drive clarity across internal teams and external vendors without overstepping contracting authority.
  • Willingness to work full-time in-office at Brooklyn, NY headquarters five days a week, with travel to project sites and vendor factory visits as needed.
