The Solar Plant Manager oversees daily operations at a solar energy facility, ensuring safety, performance, and compliance while leading and developing the site team to meet operational goals and maintain high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee site safety, operational, and performance programs.
Build and maintain a proactive safety culture through audits, training, and safety programs.
Coach, support, and develop site teams to enhance performance and engagement.
Implement and ensure compliance with operational processes, procedures, and standards.
Manage maintenance activities, including preventative and corrective maintenance plans.
Oversee inventory control, spare parts planning, and equipment maintenance.
Manage contractor relationships, vendor performance, and work execution safety.
Coordinate site communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Support emergency response, outages, and critical events outside of normal hours.
Maintain site tools, equipment, vehicles, and ensure proper calibration and inspections.
Requirements
Possession of OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry certification
Possession of NFPA 70E Workplace Electrical Safety certification
Possession of First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
Ability to lead, coach, and support site teams to perform at their best, driving engagement, growth, and team alignment with company values and performance expectations
Experience in leading safety, operational, and performance programs at a solar or energy facility
Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and briefings to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other regulatory standards
Ability to serve as the site’s senior-most technical, operational, and safety leader
Experience overseeing preventative and corrective maintenance plans in accordance with standards and OEM recommendations
Ability to manage contractor relationships and vendor performance to ensure work is executed safely and according to plan
Experience overseeing inventory control, spare parts planning, and replenishment strategies
Ability to maintain high-quality care and control of site tools, vehicles, and materials, including overseeing tool calibration and equipment inspections
Ability to coordinate auxiliary services such as vegetation management and site external communications
Availability to support emergencies, outages, and critical events outside of normal hours, including participation in on-call rotation
Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed
Experience in managing a team at a managerial level with direct reports
Strong understanding of safety standards, operational processes, and performance metrics in a solar or renewable energy environment
Physical ability to perform safety inspections, site maintenance, and equipment oversight as required
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with regional managers, corporate support, contractors, and external stakeholders
