Job Description
A senior Android engineer responsible for developing and maintaining Android applications that support MOPO's energy distribution network in Africa, enabling local agents to manage battery distribution and customer relationships in challenging connectivity environments. The role involves shaping the mobile architecture and working closely with the backend platform to create seamless, product-focused solutions that drive energy access and mobility initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Android applications for MOPO's core Rental App and wider platform.
- Ensure applications work reliably in challenging connectivity environments.
- Interface with the MOPO Platform backend to create seamless user experiences.
- Understand how agents and customers use the tools to inform development.
- Shape the technical direction and architecture of the mobile platform.
- Support rapid scaling of mobile capabilities across Africa.
Requirements
- Experience in developing and maintaining Android applications that work reliably in challenging connectivity environments.
- Ability to interface directly with backend platforms to create seamless user experiences for mobile applications.
- Experience in developing and shaping the technical direction of mobile architecture for scalable applications.
- Proven experience as a senior Android engineer or in a similar senior mobile development role.
- Strong understanding of product-focused development, including understanding user needs and translating them into technical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop applications that enable users to manage and operate battery distribution and customer relationships in underserved markets.
- Experience working on applications that support local agents and end-users in field environments, particularly in emerging markets or areas with connectivity challenges.
