Job Description
The role involves leading on-road autonomous vehicle operations in the Bay Area, overseeing data collection, validation, and mission execution to ensure safety, performance, and operational excellence in a high-stakes, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee autonomous vehicle operations, ensuring safety, performance, and efficiency.
- Manage and coach a multi-layered team of managers and field personnel.
- Drive strategy, set OKRs, and align organizational workflows with company objectives.
- Coordinate fleet and resource allocation to execute weekly plans and adapt as needed.
- Provide technical leadership and promote operational excellence and a performance-driven culture.
- Respond to emergency and troubleshooting situations, ensuring resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on vehicle integration, testing, and software development.
- Lead strategic planning and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
Requirements
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in operations management, with a proven track record of managing managers and overseeing large-scale, 24/7 organizations in high-stakes environments like autonomous vehicles, robotics, or complex logistics.
- Experience in leading and managing a multi-layered team, including setting clear expectations, providing coaching and mentorship to first-line supervisors and managers, and managing performance.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee autonomous vehicle operations, ensuring safety, performance, and efficiency across all daily missions.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, including driving strategy, setting and tracking OKRs, and organizational design aligned with company objectives.
- Strong leadership skills to foster a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement, and to promote operational excellence.
- Ability to independently solve complex cross-functional problems and make critical decisions on mission priorities with strong judgment.
- Experience building scalable systems and processes, including identifying operational bottlenecks and leading Continuous Improvement projects.
- Experience directly overseeing fleet and resource coordination, ensuring effective execution of weekly plans and agile reallocation of resources.
- Technical leadership skills to provide direction and uphold operational excellence in a high-tech environment.
- Ability to respond to and escalate emergency and troubleshooting situations with composure, following issues through to resolution.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including providing feedback on vehicle integration, testing, software development, and partner demonstrations.
- Proven ability to lead strategic planning and develop, achieve, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and advocate for team needs while supporting broader company goals.
