Job Description
The role involves leading the development and management of Nuro's simulation and evaluation platform for autonomous vehicles, focusing on enabling rapid iteration, rigorous validation, and data-driven decision-making to ensure safety and performance of driverless technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical vision and roadmap for the Eval Platform, including simulation, evaluation infrastructure, and software quality operations
- Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary engineering organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Build and scale simulation and evaluation capabilities for rapid iteration and rigorous validation of autonomy systems
- Own the autonomy evaluation and validation platform, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and trustworthiness
- Represent the Eval Platform at the executive level, communicating progress, risks, and readiness
Requirements
- Deep technical expertise in building simulation systems and evaluation platforms for large scale machine learning and robotics systems.
- Strong understanding of autonomy and validation, and how to build high quality tools for these use cases.
- Proven experience leading and scaling high impact engineering organizations, including managers and senior individual contributors.
- Ability to translate complex technical signals into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
- Experience defining and owning the technical vision and roadmap for simulation, evaluation infrastructure, and software quality operations.
- Experience building and scaling simulation and evaluation capabilities that support both rapid iteration and rigorous validation use cases.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and grow a multi-team organization of managers and senior individual contributors, fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Experience representing technical platforms at the executive level, clearly communicating tradeoffs, progress, risks, and readiness.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high ambiguity environment.
