The Vice President of Engineering at NineDot Energy provides executive leadership over the company's renewable energy and battery storage projects, overseeing engineering strategy, technical governance, and organizational development to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance across the project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Own and lead the engineering function, including strategy, governance, standards, and organizational design.
Serve as the final technical authority, making decisions on engineering approaches, vendor solutions, and technical issues.
Establish and maintain enterprise-wide engineering standards, QA/QC frameworks, and processes to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.
Oversee system-level design integrity across electrical power systems, SCADA, controls, grounding, protection, interconnection, and fire safety systems.
Manage engineering outcomes throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility to commissioning and as-built documentation.
Lead technical reviews, resolve complex engineering issues, and ensure solutions meet safety, cost, schedule, and operational objectives.
Build, develop, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Represent NineDot externally by engaging with regulatory agencies, utilities, industry partners, and stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in civil, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience, including leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex energy or infrastructure projects.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
New York State licensure strongly preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams within a multi-project development environment.
Experience supporting energy projects in New York City that have successfully achieved permitting approval from the NYC Department of Buildings is preferred.
Strong familiarity with New York State and local regulations governing renewable energy and battery storage projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, assess risk, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Experience with Procore, SAP, Airtable, or similar tools is a plus.
