Job Description
The Associate Engineer will support the planning, engineering, and execution of clean energy projects in metro New York City, focusing on utility interconnection processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track interconnection applications with utilities for battery storage projects.
- Work closely with utilities, engineers, and project developers to resolve technical questions related to interconnection feasibility, constraints, and costs.
- Evaluate technical considerations for project sites.
- Coordinate with external consultants to obtain site evaluations.
- Facilitate smooth project handoffs between development, engineering, and construction teams.
- Ensure clear communication of technical and related requirements between stakeholders.
- Develop SOPs for new processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline early-stage development and reduce bottlenecks.
- Maintain and update a knowledge base of interconnection guidelines and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) or equivalent technical background.
- Familiarity with interconnection processes, utility coordination, and distributed energy resources (DER).
- Basic understanding of battery storage, electrical grids, and renewable energy technologies.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to interface with teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
