Job Description

The role involves leading the Asset Management Accounting team to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and operational processes for Nexamp's solar and storage assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting strategic decision-making in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for solar and storage assets, including project-level entities, partnerships, and tax structures
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606, ASC 842, and partnership accounting standards
  • Lead the Asset Management Accounting team through goal setting, delegation, and communication
  • Enhance financial operations, internal controls, and reporting processes through system automation and process improvements
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on portfolio transactions, reporting, and strategic initiatives
  • Manage internal control practices and ensure accuracy of financial reports and system reports
  • Maintain and oversee project accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Partner with other departments to ensure models reflect actual performance and accounting policy changes
  • Lead automation and system improvements within NetSuite and related platforms
  • Oversee preparation and review of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Manage investor reporting, cash management, and distributions to ensure compliance with debt and return requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance.
  • 7-12 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5 years in public accounting.
  • Experience in renewable energy, project-based accounting, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP with a focus on renewable energy accounting, including PPAs, RECs, HLBV, tax equity, and project finance structures.
  • Expertise in financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to develop accounting talent.
  • Proven experience in managing external audits and ensuring clean audit opinions.
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and accounting guidance in a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or comparable ERP system, with advanced Excel and Power BI capabilities.
  • Ability to oversee and ensure compliance with ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, ASC 842 Lease Accounting, and partnership accounting standards.
  • Experience in managing accounting and financial reporting for solar and storage assets, including project-level entities, partnerships, and tax equity structures.
  • Experience in overseeing the preparation and review of annual budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual analyses.
  • Experience in managing investor reporting, project-level cash management, and equity distributions to ensure compliance with debt service and return requirements.
  • Ability to lead process automation and system improvements within NetSuite and related reporting platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic company initiatives.
  • Experience in assessing, implementing, and monitoring internal control practices, including accuracy of system reports used for financial reporting.
  • Ability to direct, coordinate, and maintain project accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, as well as department policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for effectively sharing information, ideas, and perspectives within and outside the organization.
  • Integrity and accountability, with a demonstrated change leadership capability.
  • Strong internal and external relationship-building skills with customers and stakeholders.
