The Contracts Specialist at New Leaf Energy manages the execution, negotiation, and administration of contracts for clean energy projects, primarily focusing on power plant development, while supporting organizational contract systems and risk management to facilitate renewable energy project growth.
Key Responsibilities
Support the drafting, negotiation, and management of EPC, O M, supply, and purchase agreements and amendments
Coordinate the execution of project contracts, including review of exhibits and attachments
Evaluate contractor and supplier proposals, conduct bid comparisons, and review commercial terms
Ensure scope of work clarity and technical alignment with project requirements
Manage vendor compliance with insurance and contractual requirements
Maintain proper documentation and recordkeeping throughout the project lifecycle
Support compliance monitoring with financing documents, EPC agreements, and project contracts
Assist in managing change orders, claims, and dispute resolution processes
Identify and escalate contractual and commercial risks, maintaining organized risk documentation
Develop and improve standard contracting templates, checklists, and materials
Track industry trends affecting contract risk, including supply chain and tariffs
Support systems development for contract management across the organization
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
At least three years of prior experience in renewable energy EPC contracting, project development, equipment supply, or construction contract administration
Understanding of EPC contract forms, structures, and terms
Understanding of solar module and battery energy storage system supply agreements and long-term service agreements
Proven stakeholder management, communication, and organization skills
Ability to support the drafting, negotiation, and management of EPC, O M, and supply and purchase agreements, amendments, and related project contracts
Ability to evaluate contractor and supplier proposals, bid comparisons, and commercial terms, including driving key terms reviews with shortlisted counterparties
Ability to ensure scopes of work are clearly defined and aligned with technical requirements
Ability to ensure vendor compliance with insurance and other requirements before work is released
Ability to support the management and procurement of all deliverables necessary to meet conditions precedent under the IPP’s financing facilities to facilitate loan draws
Experience supporting change order review, claims management, and dispute resolution
Ability to support the IPP in managing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with financing documents, EPC agreements, and project contracts
Ability to support the development, use, and continuous improvement of standard templates, checklists, and contracting materials
Familiarity with structured finance requirements and lender diligence processes is a plus
Legal training or experience working alongside legal teams is a plus
