  • This position may be filled out of our Oakland, CA office. We value in-person collaboration and offer a hybrid work environment. Hybrid employees work in the office at least two out of every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and are free to work from the office or home on other days.
  • Perform all activities necessary to issue timely and accurate financial statements by the 5th Business day of the following month.
  • Maintain the general ledger system and the associated account reconciliations.
  • Manage complex intercompany transactions, including transfers, eliminations and the production of consolidated financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the audited financial statements at year end along with unaudited quarterly financial reports.
  • Coordinate and assist with external auditors for the year-end financial statement audit.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Perform technical accounting research as applicable to areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare accounting reports & analysis for monthly finance report.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual compliance reporting for the Board, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with and influence stakeholders across the company where required to improve the quality and timeliness of the financial data resulting from business processes.
  • Support the Director and VP in delivering financial analysis that is timely, meaningful, and drives business improvements.
  • Improve the analytical capabilities of the accounting function, both in data/report availability and added insights, and be responsible for providing narratives on financial results;
  • Serve as an integral part of the budgeting process including creation, reforecasting, and variance analysis to drive business improvements and OPEX efficiency.
  • Optimize the use of our systems and technology to enable speed, control and efficiency in delivering outcomes.
  • Mentor accounting staff, including by coaching, counseling, and supporting the development of junior team member skillsets
  • Take a leadership role in the Finance and Accounting team's efforts to increase resilience by documenting team members' tasks, ensuring continuity of operations during absences (e.g., sickness, vacation).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes. If you’re unsure of whether you meet enough of the qualifications below but believe that your experience and skill set is a good match for this position, we invite you to apply!
  • Ability to identify and implement practical solutions to complex business and accounting problems;
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships based on trust and transparency across the Finance and Accounting team, broader business and external stakeholders, and leverage those relationships to both support and influence others in service of the performance of the Finance and Accounting function;
  • Good knowledge of GAAP and other accounting practices and pronouncements relevant to the development of solar and/or energy storage projects or similar assets;
  • Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills to manage numerous and sometimes competing responsibilities of varying urgency and criticality within a fast-paced work environment;
  • Hardworking, responsive and adaptable to what the situation dictates, including possessing the strong interpersonal skills needed to work effectively in a team;
  • An unwavering commitment to excellence, and the creativity, foresight, and desire to spur and implement continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-ledger, intercompany accounting practices
  • Bachelor of Accounting (or similar), licensed CPA preferred.
  • Advanced reporting and data analysis skills, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
