Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer II supports the development of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects by managing design, permitting, and entitlement processes, coordinating with consultants and stakeholders, and ensuring project quality and compliance to advance renewable energy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and coordinate renewable energy projects, including site reviews, zoning, and entitlement processes
- Manage survey, environmental, and engineering consultants to support project development
- Develop project entitlement documentation and review design drawings and bid sets
- Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction and stakeholders for permitting and approvals
- Ensure project design quality, standards adherence, and timeliness using scheduling and quality control tools
- Prepare civil engineering components for project bidding and respond to permitting questions during the bidding process
- Mentor and coach early-career engineers involved in project development
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; multi-state licensure preferred.
- 6 to 12 years of demonstrated experience in site development, entitlement, and environmental permitting at municipal, state, and federal levels.
- Experience with transmission-connected solar PV or energy storage projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience in cost estimation, reviewing engineering services contracts, managing subconsultants, and overseeing project schedules.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD or equivalent design tools is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey design concepts and lead meetings with clients, engineers, regulatory officials, and consultants.
- Proven ability to self-manage multiple projects while remaining motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Demonstrated passion for renewable energy.
