The Civil Project Engineer I supports the design, construction, and permitting of renewable energy projects by collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure technical excellence and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Civil Engineering SME for the Power Plants team
Collaborate with engineering consultants and EPC companies to develop and review project plans
Respond to external civil RFIs and act as the technical focal point
Author RFPs, bid templates, and scope of service documents
Onboard engineering consultants and subconsultants
Perform civil cost estimation and identify opportunities for Value Engineering
Evaluate third-party change order requests for technical and financial validity
Review permit applications and liaise with regulatory agencies
Conduct site visits to verify engineering and construction activities
Coordinate with EPC partners to ensure timely project closeout and certifications
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
Civil P.E. license preferred
4 to 8 years of experience in construction management, site development, entitlement, or environmental permitting
Specific experience in Solar PV or Energy Storage is a significant plus
Experience in cost estimation, reviewing engineering services contracts, managing subconsultants
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD or similar design tools is desired
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead meetings with clients, regulatory officials, and consultants
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
