Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer responsible for developing and maintaining the software systems that operate and ensure the reliability of a fleet of satellites, including ground and onboard software, with opportunities to take on roles such as Flight Director overseeing satellite health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Scale the operation of a heterogeneous fleet of satellites across various mission types
- Develop and maintain ground and flight software for satellite operations
- Ensure the reliable, efficient, and standardized operation of space infrastructure
- Maintain the stability of satellite components, including the satellite bus, Hub, and payloads
- Solve on-orbit problems related to satellite performance and health
- Work on systems interacting with mission control and onboard satellite code
Requirements
- Experience in developing and maintaining software for satellite operations, ground and flight software, or related aerospace systems.
- Ability to work at the intersection of automated satellite operations, ground and flight software, and solving on-orbit problems.
- Experience in scaling operations to manage a heterogeneous fleet of satellites spanning dedicated, rideshare, and constellation missions.
- Knowledge of ensuring the reliable, efficient, and standardized operation of space infrastructure.
- Experience working with satellite bus systems, including stability and operational management.
- Familiarity with mission control systems such as Cockpit or similar platforms.
- Ability to develop code that interacts with mission control systems and executes onboard satellite functions.
- Willingness and capability to take on responsibilities related to becoming a Flight Director, including overseeing the health and safety of the satellite fleet.
