Job Description
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing global supply chains, conducting strategic sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, and supporting operational procurement to ensure the continuous and cost-effective supply of components for a renewable energy storage manufacturer in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a global supplier base across multiple regions.
- Conduct strategic sourcing activities, including supplier research, RFQs, tendering, and total cost analysis.
- Lead commercial negotiations to secure best value, quality, and delivery performance.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers aligned with business growth and risk mitigation strategies.
- Deploy supplier performance scorecards and drive continuous improvement with key vendors.
- Oversee purchase order placement, expediting, and delivery management for critical components.
- Support NPI and engineering change processes to ensure material readiness and smooth manufacturing introduction.
- Work with planning and production teams to maintain inventory targets, optimize MOQ, and reduce lead times.
- Resolve supply disruptions and escalate risks proactively.
- Analyze market trends, commodity price movements, and global supply chain risks.
- Support cost reduction initiatives and budget cycles through data analysis and forecasting.
- Ensure supplier compliance with specifications, audits, and corrective actions through cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment
- Experience managing global supply chains, preferably with high-value or complex components
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven record of delivering cost, quality, and delivery improvements
- Proficiency in modern ERP systems such as Microsoft Business Central and Oracle
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand technical specifications
- Excellent analytical skills with strong Excel capability
- Experience managing supplier risk, contracts, and service-level agreements
- Support for annual cost-down initiatives and budget cycles
- Ability to produce procurement reports, forecasts, and risk assessments for senior leadership
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure supplier compliance with specifications, audits, and corrective actions
- Support sustainability, ESG, and ethical sourcing initiatives
- Willingness to travel potentially to Canada, Asia, and Europe
