Job Description

The RF Engineer designs, tests, and supports RF and millimeter wave subsystems for communication, radar, and sensing applications, collaborating with scientists and engineers to develop advanced systems and solve technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, integrate, and test RF and millimeter wave subsystems
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop RF subsystems for communication, radar, and sensing applications
  • Solve customer problems related to RF systems
  • Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and RF components
  • Prepare and deliver written and oral presentations on technical findings
  • Support proposal activities and contribute to marketing efforts of RF expertise

Requirements

  • Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates and tests RF and millimeter wave subsystems.
  • Work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support in developing state of the art RF subsystems for communication, radar and sensing applications.
  • Solve customer problems related to RF systems.
  • Write invention disclosures and publish papers related to RF technology.
  • Brief customers on RF subsystem developments and capabilities.
  • Participate in proposal activities and assist in marketing HRL expertise.
  • Some experience with modeling and simulating electronic components, RF electronics and circuits is desired.
  • Experience with different families of FPGAs, DSPs, or microcontrollers is desired.
  • A working familiarity with Python, C and MATLAB is required.
  • Simulink experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic circuit theory, electromagnetics, and digital signal processing is required.
  • Familiarity with RF and high-speed digital test equipment is required.
  • Working knowledge of RF components for communication and radar systems is a plus.
  • Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers.
  • Ability to operate complex electronic equipment is required.
  • Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and prepare written and oral presentations.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently is required.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, engineering workstations, and complex electronic equipment is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is required.
  • Master’s Degree with at least 1 year of experience or Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% of the time is required.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain US Government security clearance are mandatory.

Compensation salary range: 128,000 - 159,900 USD
