Job Description
The Embedded Systems Engineer designs, tests, and supports RF and electromagnetic subsystems for communication, radar, and EW applications, working closely with a team of scientists and engineers to develop advanced electronic systems at high frequencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, integrate, and test RF and electromagnetic components and subsystems at frequencies below 0.1 to 200 GHz.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop RF subsystems for communication, radar, and EW applications.
- Solve customer problems and support proposal activities related to RF systems.
- Operate complex electronic equipment and perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits.
- Develop and write test and control software for complex systems and prototypes.
- Perform circuit board design, evaluation, and layout using PCB design software.
- Utilize RF and high-speed digital test equipment for system testing and validation.
- Interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers.
Requirements
- Contribute technical expertise and work within a focused team that designs, fabricates, integrates, and tests RF and electromagnetic components and subsystems at frequencies below 0.1 to 200 GHz.
- Work closely with scientists and engineers to provide support in developing state-of-the-art RF subsystems for communication, radar, and EW applications.
- Solve customer problems related to RF and electromagnetic systems.
- Write invention disclosures, publish papers, brief customers, participate in proposal activities, and assist in marketing HRL expertise.
- Experience with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and other low-level programming languages.
- At least 2 years of experience with circuit board design and evaluation.
- At least 2 years of experience in low-level programming, especially for embedded platforms.
- Experience with PCB design, assembly, and PCB layout software.
- Ability to write test and control software for complex and varied systems.
- Ability to rapidly prototype with evaluation platforms.
- Experience with RF and high-speed digital test equipment.
- Knowledge of Xilinx Zynq SoCs.
- Applicant must be able to interact professionally with program managers, co-workers, and customers.
- Operate complex electronic equipment.
- Perform detailed analyses of integrated circuits and prepare written and oral presentations.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Must be US citizen and able to obtain and maintain US Government security clearance.
