Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer at Gotion Inc. is responsible for managing and improving the quality of suppliers related to lithium-ion batteries and energy storage systems, including supplier qualification, quality control, issue resolution, and continuous improvement to ensure stable and high-quality raw material supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage quality of suppliers related to ESS and power automotive lithium-ion batteries, including new supplier review and incoming quality control during mass production
- Conduct quality system assessments such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 on potential suppliers
- Guide new suppliers to establish and maintain quality systems that meet required standards
- Collaborate with R&D, purchasing, and project teams to control supplier quality in new projects
- Drive suppliers to complete APQP and PPAP processes
- Develop inspection standards for incoming materials and handle non-conforming materials
- Respond quickly to supplier quality issues in production lines or customer feedback
- Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and track issue resolution
- Collect and analyze supplier quality data to identify areas for improvement
- Assist suppliers in implementing problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5Why, and PDCA
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Material Sciences
- At least 3 years of experience in supplier quality management, with experience in the power battery or energy storage battery industry preferred
- Willingness to travel 25%
- Familiarity with the production process and quality control points of cells, modules, packs, BMS, and key raw materials
- Proficiency in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems
- Familiarity with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC
- Proficiency in problem analysis and solution methods such as 8D, 5Why, fishbone diagram, and DOE
- Ability to conduct quality system assessments such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 on potential suppliers
- Experience guiding new suppliers to establish a quality system that meets required standards and approving supplier PPAP
- Ability to provide training on quality standards, inspection specifications, process control requirements, etc.
- Experience in quality planning during supplier development, including collaborating with R&D, purchasing, and project teams to control supplier quality in new projects
- Experience driving suppliers to complete APQP, PPAP, and related processes
- Ability to develop inspection standards for incoming materials
- Experience dealing with non-conforming incoming materials, analyzing causes, and promoting supplier rectification
- Ability to respond quickly to supplier quality issues in production lines or customer feedback
- Experience coordinating and promoting suppliers to implement corrective and preventive measures, and tracking improvements
- Ability to collect and analyze supplier quality data such as PPM, defect rate, return rate, etc.
- Experience driving suppliers to develop and implement problem improvement plans such as 8D, 5Why, PDCA, etc.
- Ability to provide systematic assistance to suppliers to enhance their overall capabilities
- Failure analysis ability and capability to guide suppliers in failure analysis
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $90,000 to $120,000, plus eligibility for bonus and benefits
