Job Description

The Equipment Engineer Lead oversees the installation, optimization, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment in a battery production facility, providing technical leadership, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety in a fast-paced, bilingual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and validation in battery manufacturing lines
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolve issues related to automation, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Drive equipment optimization projects to improve throughput, yield, and efficiency
  • Mentor and lead equipment engineers and technicians, supporting team development and resource allocation
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve technical issues and ensure equipment performance
  • Apply process-improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to enhance equipment reliability and reduce waste
  • Ensure equipment compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards (ISO9001, IATF16949)
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe operating practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong expertise in PLCs, HMIs, sensors, servo systems, and industrial automation.
  • Skilled in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and equipment optimization.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and technical documentation.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Support team development through training, coaching, and performance guidance.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of key production equipment.
  • Review technical documentation and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues.
  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to reduce downtime.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for major equipment failures and drive corrective actions.
  • Provide expert troubleshooting support for automation, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Drive automation upgrades and equipment optimization projects to improve throughput, yield, and efficiency.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and process-improvement methodologies to reduce waste and enhance reliability.
  • Ensure all equipment complies with safety, quality, and regulatory standards ISO9001, IATF16949.
  • Lead risk assessments and enforce safe operating practices.
  • Strong safety and compliance orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
