Job Description
The ESS Project Manager oversees the end-to-end execution of utility-scale and commercial energy storage system projects, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure timely, within-budget delivery while managing technical, logistical, and stakeholder communication aspects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full project lifecycle from pre-sales to post-sales support, including contract negotiation, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and commissioning.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, resource plans, risk registers, and budgets to ensure on-time delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across U.S. and overseas facilities to align build schedules and delivery timelines.
- Support contract development, review, and execution with legal, sales, engineering, and finance teams.
- Manage ESS project pipeline, demand forecasts, and align manufacturing and shipping schedules accordingly.
- Coordinate logistics activities and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and freight partners.
- Collaborate with commissioning and field services teams to ensure smooth system handover, energization, and validation.
- Provide project updates, reports, and communicate risks, opportunities, and scope changes to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Project Management, or a related technical field.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in project or program management, preferably in the renewable energy or energy storage industry.
- Familiarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid-scale ESS architecture, UL certifications, domestic content requirements, and applicable interconnection utility standards.
- Strong organizational and execution skills with experience using project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or Primavera.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to think critically and proactively address project risks and issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project needs dictate.
