Job Description
The role involves designing and supporting battery energy storage systems (ESS) for various applications, providing pre-sales technical support, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and engaging with customers to ensure successful system integration and adoption in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conceptualize battery systems tailored for specific applications, optimizing performance, safety, and cycle life.
- Provide pre-sales technical support and develop documentation to assist customer account engagements.
- Manage technical account engagements pre- and post-sales to ensure successful ESS solution adoption.
- Support utility-scale and commercial projects with customized design solutions to secure design wins and reduce costs.
- Collect field testing feedback and coordinate with R&D and product teams for product improvements.
- Collaborate with customer support to address technical issues and ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Engage with customers and partners on ESS system applications and integration with balance of system equipment.
- Develop technical documentation including specifications, manuals, safety certifications, and proposals.
- Coordinate with sales and technical teams to prioritize project opportunities and provide pre-sales support.
- Work with R&D and cross-functional teams to ensure product readiness and competitive positioning.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to exchange ideas and gather feedback.
- Lead the development and promotion of technical tools and training for sales and partners.
- Act as a technical liaison for customer feedback and field issues, facilitating communication with product management.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Practical experience with distributed PV solar and energy storage system applications.
- 2-5 years of experience in ESS engineering design, technical pre-sales support, and project management.
- Strong knowledge of certification and regulatory codes for ESS installations and development.
- Ability to lead and manage tasks in the technical pipeline to ensure all qualified projects receive appropriate pre-sales design and technical support.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of battery systems into larger products or systems.
- Experience participating in design reviews, meetings, and discussions to exchange ideas, provide technical expertise, and gather feedback.
- Ability to coordinate with China-based R&D, design, and pre-sales technical support teams to ensure proactive participation in test requirements, procedures, and plans for ESS products.
- Experience managing the development of technical documentation such as technical specifications, manuals, safety certifications, and technical diligence proposals.
- Experience leading and collaborating with Product Management on technical tools and training, and driving adoption through sales teams, partners, and distributors.
- Ability to act as a sales focal point for input feedback into product management on major product and technical issues and recommended solutions.
- Experience managing a closed-loop process with product management, customer support, and sales on all field pre-sales related topics and issues.
- Strong communication skills in English; fluency in German and/or Chinese is a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Educational background of BSEE, BSME, or MS preferred.
- Experience with certification and regulatory codes for ESS installations and development.
