Job Description
The Aftermarket Engineering Manager oversees the post-sale lifecycle of EV batteries and energy storage systems, managing operations such as remote service, spare parts planning, reverse logistics, and recycling, while ensuring safety, KPI performance, and continuous improvement within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily aftermarket operations including dispatch, remote diagnostics, escalation, and KPI tracking
- Build and maintain inventory planning systems, parts BOM accuracy, and manage 3PL performance and spares availability
- Execute return-to-procurement programs and hazardous shipment processes with proper documentation
- Coordinate repair, remanufacturing, and recycling workflows with approved partners
- Lead operational reporting, warranty claim processing, cost tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in aftermarket after-sales service operations for EV battery, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), or automotive industries.
- At least 2 years of experience leading technicians, analysts, or vendor teams.
- Working knowledge of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) pack basics and field diagnostics commissioning.
- Strong familiarity with PFEP (Plan For Every Part), S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning), 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) scorecards, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) CRM workflows.
- Hands-on experience with hazmat logistics including DOT, IATA, UN3480, UN3481, and RTP handling with solid documentation discipline.
- Demonstrated safety compliance mindset with knowledge of EPA RCRA, Universal Waste, OSHA HV safety standards.
- Proven ability to own and drive KPIs such as First Time Fix (FTF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), parts fill rate, and uptime.
- Ability to travel up to 40% for site visits, customer meetings, and partner coordination.
