Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Virtual Power Plants will lead the development and execution of strategies for integrating distributed energy resources into utility grid programs, managing partnerships, and driving revenue growth through innovative software platforms and utility collaborations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute GoodLeap's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) strategy
  • Integrate distributed energy resources such as solar, batteries, smart thermostats, and EV chargers into utility grid programs
  • Lead development of proprietary DERMS and related software platforms to meet utility and grid operator needs
  • Establish and maintain utility partnerships and enterprise sales efforts
  • Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements related to demand response, capacity, and ancillary services
  • Serve as primary interface with utilities, ISOs, RTOs, regulators, and technology partners
  • Drive revenue growth, program adoption, and scaling of DER assets

Requirements

  • The candidate must have a strong track record in utility partnerships and enterprise sales, with the ability to structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
  • The candidate must have experience navigating regulatory and market frameworks for demand response, capacity, and ancillary services.
  • The candidate must have experience owning the design and execution of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) strategies, including integrating distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, smart thermostats, and EV chargers into utility grid programs.
  • The candidate must have experience leading the development of proprietary DERMS and related software platforms to meet the evolving needs of utilities and grid operators.
  • The candidate must have the ability to serve as the primary interface with utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), regulators, and technology partners.
  • The candidate must have a proven ability to drive revenue growth, program adoption, and scale across owned and partner DER assets.
  • The candidate must have experience structuring and negotiating complex commercial agreements related to energy and grid services.
  • The candidate must have a minimum of several years of experience in roles related to utility-scale energy solutions, VPPs, or DERMS (specific number of years not explicitly stated but implied by seniority).
