Job Description

The Senior Subsystem Integration Engineer – Mechanical will lead technical development and implementation of Rotor or Tower Sub-System Level integration within the Mechanical Sub-System team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide system expertise through all phases of product development, from requirements definition through design and development, validation, procurement, manufacturing, and product life-cycle support.
Lead and/or oversee sub-system conceptual design studies and trade-offs that address product CTQs (critical to quality) such as cost, performance, reliability & operability
Define subsystem architecture and manage interfaces of the subsystem.
Contribute to and approve system level requirements and DMs (design memo) as well as customer facing technical documents and flow those requirements through the subsystem to the components.
Communicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiences.
Lead subsystem problem solving, verification, validation and risk mitigation activities.
Coordinate and align efforts from cross functional teams both internally and externally to ensure the subsystem development and BOM (bill of materials) release.
Drive continuous improvement by establishing design strategies, contributing to multi-generation system and technology plans, and managing lessons learned and sick parts.
Drive simplification and standardization best practices into product structure, engineering analysis, validation, and program execution.
Drive subsystem quality by supporting field and factory quality issues and cases.
Undertake complex assignments with long-term business implications, impacting the products’ technical success.
Understand and communicate execution status of subsystem technical milestones aligned with the schedule to support the business.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering.
6+ years relevant experience working on Systems engineering projects, issues and/or technologies (Wind Turbine Experience preferred )
System design mindset and experience in engineering NPI (new product development) lifecycle.
Experience with component design ownership including design, validation, and fleet support.
Effective problem identification and solving ability.
Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal skills, leading and influencing skills and a positive energy.
Knowledge on wind turbine component design criteria and wind turbine systems integration.
Ability to break-down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making.
Conceptual design and system-level trade-off experience.
Field issues, test and/or validation experience.
Knowledgeable about GE Wind Turbine design practices and 3rd party certification requirements.
