Job Description

The Lead Substation Primary Engineer will play a key role in supporting project execution, sales and business development by providing technical expertise in the design of electrification solutions for the EHV/HV Substations.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for HV (Primary) designs for GIS/AIS Substation projects.
Preparation of basic Single Line Diagram, general arrangement, Layout Plan & Section of Overall plant, Equipment control room, GIS building arrangement, equipment erection dwgs, Grounding Layout/details , Trench Layout etc.
Capable to complete Grounding design, Lightning design, Cable Sizing, Battery Sizing, Illumination system design, Sag Tension calculation, Short Circuit Force and Bus- bar Sizing as per IEEE/IEC.
Preparation of all Project related HV Equipment Specifications/selections and Sizing as per IEEE/IEC
Evaluation of vendor Shop Drawings, Calculation & Technical Specs
Support ITO (tender) drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization & evaluation of various components, selection of equipment with best pricing options.
Co-ordination and integration with Automation, Civil & MEP.
Co-ordination of site & office team for execution of project
Flexible and quick to learn global developments in renewable technologies and adopt.
Know-how of IEEE / IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, AC substation industry engineering practices.
Good Communication skills & capability to lead project independently along with Client handling.
Team handling & development.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field.
Minimum of 6+ years of experience
Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration.
Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs.
Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients.
Ability to guide/groom team and execute project in line with client/project requirement.
Ability to expand the competency domain, being able to take new learning challenges.
Professional working proficiency in English (reading, speaking, writing)
Flexible to travel globally
Professional Engineering license in the United States (or demonstrating his/her plan to get PE license within a certain period).
FACTS project engineering i.e. STATCOM, FSC, Synchronous Condenser
HVDC/FACTS integrated project applications.
Competency on specialized tools like ETAP, CDGES or equivalent
Working experience with 3D Design Tools, BIM and Revit
Customer-Centric Approach: Ability to translate customer needs into technical solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and compliant with industry standards.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical system design, material selection, and quantity estimation .
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and provide leadership throughout the design and implementation phases.
Safety & Compliance: Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, with a focus on delivering designs that meet industry-specific standards.
