Job Description
A Software Engineer specializing in LiDAR mapping and HD map pipeline development to build and optimize high-precision 3D maps for autonomous vehicles, ensuring accurate geospatial data integration and supporting perception, localization, and planning systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable HD map pipelines for real-time accuracy
- Process LiDAR and sensor data to create precise 3D maps and optimize point clouds
- Implement geospatial data processing for large-scale mapping projects
- Integrate HD maps into autonomous vehicle systems in collaboration with perception, localization, and planning teams
- Work with industry mapping standards such as Lanelet2 and OpenDRIVE
- Build QA tools to validate map accuracy and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance mapping capabilities
- Stay updated on advancements in HD mapping and geospatial technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.S. or M.S.) in Computer Science, Geospatial Sciences, Robotics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience working with HD maps and autonomous vehicle map pipelines.
- Strong proficiency in C programming language; modern C preferred.
- Familiarity with Python programming language is a plus.
- Expertise in geospatial processing, GIS tools, and coordinate systems.
- Experience with GDAL, Proj4, GeoPandas, and LiDAR data processing.
- Knowledge of industry mapping standards such as Lanelet2 and OpenDRIVE.
- Experience working with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong debugging skills and ability to optimize performance.
- Ability to develop and maintain scalable HD map pipelines ensuring real-time accuracy.
- Experience processing LiDAR and sensor data for precise 3D maps and point cloud optimization.
- Ability to implement geospatial data processing for large-scale mapping.
- Experience working with perception, localization, and planning teams to integrate HD maps into autonomous vehicles.
- Ability to build QA tools to validate map accuracy and reliability.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance mapping capabilities.
- Ability to stay updated on advancements in HD mapping and geospatial technology.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range of $150,000 to $240,000
Work is onsite five days a week in Mountain View, CA
