Job Description
A Shift Coordinator at Gatik is responsible for managing daily yard operations, including moving trucks, coordinating with drivers and warehouse staff, and ensuring timely staging, loading, and dispatching of trucks at the Mississauga site.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and move Class 3-7 trucks to and from dock doors and staging zones based on dispatch schedules
- Perform walkaround checks on trucks to ensure readiness and report issues
- Coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure efficient truck flow and coverage
- Enter truck activity, dock status, and load completion data into planning logs or internal systems
- Support planning for daily loads by organizing shift resources and staging
- Assist with shift handovers, noting updates, delays, or exceptions
- Identify and communicate issues affecting route readiness or loading timelines
Requirements
- Valid AZ or DZ license required
- At least 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or yard coordination
- Experience driving box trucks in a busy yard environment
- Ability to perform walkaround checks to ensure truck readiness and report any visible issues
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and warehouse personnel
- Strong time management skills to organize shift resources and support efficient truck flow
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Flexible availability for varying shift durations, typically 8 to 12 hours, and occasional weekend coverage
