Job Description
The Senior Staff Vehicle Harness Engineer at Gatik is responsible for designing, developing, and integrating power and signal distribution systems for autonomous vehicles, from concept through production, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with automotive standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and create engineering specifications, schematics, CAD models, and drawings for vehicle harnesses.
- Own the device transmittal (DT) process for harness components.
- Provide technical expertise on power, signal, and data bus distribution systems in autonomous vehicles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop system specifications and address gaps.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to build prototypes and production vehicle harnesses.
- Develop and refine tools and methods for harness system development.
- Mentor junior engineers on power and signal distribution principles and best practices.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline, with MS preferred
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with vehicle harnesses
- Experience in delivering a system to production, from inception to production
- Experience in the Automotive, Truck Transportation, and Autonomous Vehicle (AV) industry
- Knowledge of advanced vehicle communication standards and requirements such as GMSL, Automotive Ethernet, CAN, CAN-FD, low voltage high power applications
- Ability to size and select appropriate cables, connectors, and fuses
- Ability to design mechanical components supporting the completion of the deliverable, e.g., brackets, housings, or pass-throughs
- Proficiency with CAD and/or drawing software, with SolidWorks preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong computer skills with programming and scripting experience, preferred

Salary Range: 180,000-250,000 USD
