Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Tech Lead at Gatik is responsible for leading the development, integration, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic components for autonomous vehicles, collaborating across teams to ensure system performance, reliability, and manufacturability in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of electrical and electronic components and system architecture for autonomous vehicles.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to integrate sensors, compute, and power systems.
  • Manage selection, validation, and integration of key components and sensors with suppliers.
  • Oversee vehicle and system-level electrical bring-up, calibration, testing, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, interface specifications, and support New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Investigate vehicle issues to support field performance improvements and coordinate with testing and service teams.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices for electrical system integration, verification, and reliability.
  • Participate in design reviews, integration planning, and cross-functional problem-solving to ensure system performance.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience leading electrical system development for complex mechatronic, vehicle, or robotics platforms
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of sensor technologies including camera, lidar, radar, ultrasound and their integration into vehicle architectures
  • Ability to evaluate sensor trade-offs and calibration strategies in the context of autonomous system design
  • Experience with vehicle-level electrical integration, system reliability, and design for manufacturability
  • Proven track record collaborating across hardware, software, and systems teams during bring-up and integration phases
  • Experience in industries such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, or automation, particularly in fast-paced development environments
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation tools to support system integration and validation, e.g., Python, command-line tools
  • Working knowledge of in-vehicle communication protocols such as GMSL2, CAN, CAN-FD, and LIN
  • Familiarity with system modeling or simulation tools such as MATLAB Simulink (preferred)
  • Understanding of embedded system interfaces and microcontroller-based architectures (preferred)

Benefits & Perks

Salary Range: $200,000 - $280,000
Onsite work environment at Mountain View, CA, 5 days a week
