The Autonomous Vehicle Operator at Gatik is responsible for safely operating and maintaining autonomous Class 7 trucks, ensuring timely deliveries, providing customer service, and collaborating with teams to improve vehicle performance in a middle-mile logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Class 7 autonomous trucks in both autonomous and manual modes to ensure safe deliveries.
Manage loading and unloading of goods using tools like pallet jacks, carts, and lift gates.
Perform daily safety and readiness checks on vehicles, including fluid levels and tire pressure.
Record and review operational data using spreadsheets and business applications.
Maintain timely deliveries and ensure the integrity of goods during transit.
Assist with special projects such as delivering trucks to new locations or testing equipment installations.
Provide feedback to operations and engineering teams to improve vehicle performance.
Follow pickup and drop-off procedures on each route.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Requirements
A valid Class A CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record.
A clean background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record.
Previous experience in customer relationship management.
Experience operating box trucks up to 35 feet long.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Ability to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders.
Ability to safely operate a Class 6 box truck in any weather and at any time of day or night during a 12-hour shift.
Lift and carry boxes up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
Perform physical tasks like bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and using tools.
Use equipment like wheel chocks weighing about 40 lbs and pallet jacks to maneuver loads up to 2,000 lbs.
Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, hard hat, and gloves.
Operate Class 7 delivery vehicles over 26,001 pounds GVWR with air brakes in both autonomous and manual modes, starting with manual driving before transitioning to autonomous operation.
