Job Description
The role involves operating and monitoring autonomous trucks as an onboard safety driver, collaborating with engineers to test and refine self-driving technology, ensuring safety and compliance, and providing detailed feedback to support the development of autonomous freight transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a 26-30 ft box truck manually and monitor autonomous driving systems
- Collaborate with engineers to test and refine autonomous vehicle technology
- Conduct thorough vehicle testing and provide detailed feedback to engineering team
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and assessments before and after trips
- Ensure compliance with HOS, DVIRs, and regulations related to automated truck testing
- Prioritize safety for vehicle, occupants, and the public during testing
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck
- Experience operating large box trucks 26 - 30 ft or tractor trailers
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License CDL with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed
