Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating class 3-7 delivery trucks to transport goods, collect route data, and support the development of autonomous driving technology, primarily in the Sherman, Texas area.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate class 3-7 delivery vehicles manually to ensure on-time deliveries and safety.
- Drive assigned routes to collect data supporting autonomous vehicle development.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods securely using appropriate equipment.
- Perform daily vehicle checks to maintain safety and operational standards.
- Update dispatch team on route and shift status.
- Ensure timely arrival at pick-up and drop-off locations while maintaining cargo integrity.
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols during vehicle operation.
Requirements
- Possess a valid Class A CDL driver’s license with insurability by our underwriting, including a clean driving record, personal and professional background check.
- Have 3 years or more experience operating straight trucks up to 26-35 ft long in North America.
- Be willing to work flexible hours on both weekdays and weekends.
- Demonstrate the ability to manually operate class 3-7 less than 33,001-pound GVWR, with or without air brakes, box truck delivery vehicles, in manual modes while ensuring safety of other drivers, operators, the public, and the vehicle.
- Display customer service orientation and act as an ambassador for the company toward customers and the public.
- Ensure vehicles arrive at pick-up and drop-off locations on time and that the integrity of goods is retained on each journey.
- Assist with safe, secure loading and unloading of customer goods using equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, dollies, lift gates, etc.
- Update the dispatch team on shift and route status.
- Record and review data via spreadsheets and other business-related applications.
- Perform daily routine checks to ensure the operation and safety of trucks, including monitoring fluid levels, tire pressure, hose connections, etc.
- Be physically capable of performing work that includes bending, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and operating manual pallet jacks with up to 400 lbs. of goods.
- Learn and adhere to company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with safe operations standards.
