Job Description
This role involves designing, testing, and optimizing electrochemical reactor prototypes to support the scale-up of hydrogen generation technology for clean energy applications, with a focus on safety, performance, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and test chemical and electrochemical reactor prototypes for scale-up and pilot projects
- Conduct benchtop R&D chemistry experiments to optimize by-product processing and purification
- Analyze reactor data to improve design and operating conditions for efficiency and yield
- Select and modify materials and components to enhance device performance
- Develop and maintain SOPs and documentation for reactor assembly and testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate product subsystems
Requirements
- Pursuing education in chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, or related fields
- Deeply motivated by the climate crisis and its downstream impacts
- Track record of strong academic and/or project-based performance
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills
- Experience in one or multiple of the following electrochemical testing techniques including cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), rotating disk electrode (RDE), polarization curves, Tafel analysis, etc.
- Familiarity with assembly and operation of electrochemical devices such as gaseous and liquid flow systems, fuel cells, flow batteries, plating baths, pH probes, oxidation-reduction potential sensors, etc.
- Hands-on experience in a wet-lab including chemical handling and safety, solution preparation, and sample analysis
- Experience with hydrogen handling and safety equipment
- Experience with sensor integration and data acquisition
