This role involves designing, building, and testing reactor prototypes and subsystems to support the scale-up of hydrogen generation technology for industrial applications, with a focus on process development, data analysis, and collaboration with partners to meet technical and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and test reactor prototypes for scale-up and pilot projects
Develop and validate test platforms for subsystem iteration
Analyze reactor test data to optimize operating conditions
Create process flow diagrams, models, and simulations of units
Produce and maintain P&ID and system documentation
Specify, select, and modify commercial off-the-shelf components for integration
Lead design reviews of chemical process subsystems
Operate and maintain separation and other subsystems of the pilot reactor
Develop safety protocols and systems for prototype and production units
Translate R&D work into functional requirements and specifications
Requirements
Deeply motivated by the climate crisis and its downstream impacts
Pursuing education in chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, or related fields
Track record of strong academic and/or project-based performance
Exceptional communication and documentation skills
Experience in one or multiple of the following: Chemical reactor design, assembly, and validation; Familiarity with process control systems, PID controllers, and PLC controllers; Chemical separation and purification processes; Solid-liquid separation and filtration; Sourcing and integrating pumps, valves, and other essential equipment for fluid control and transport within the process system; Creating process flow diagrams and chemical system simulations models; Hydrogen handling and safety equipment; Sensor integration and data acquisition; Using AutoCAD to generate P IDs and other system documentation
