Job Description
A Technical Consultant at Esri is responsible for assisting clients with deploying, migrating, and supporting ArcGIS Enterprise systems, focusing on advanced deployment strategies such as high availability, disaster recovery, and Kubernetes, while collaborating with teams to solve complex technical challenges and expand their expertise in enterprise GIS and IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, migrate, and support ArcGIS Enterprise systems across various deployment environments (Windows, Linux, Kubernetes).
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to ArcGIS Enterprise and system recovery processes.
- Perform advanced system upgrades, disaster recovery exercises, and proof of concept deployments.
- Employ knowledge of complementary technologies such as RDBMS, NoSQL, object stores, and networking protocols.
- Lead and collaborate with clients and colleagues to ensure successful system implementations and solutions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in implementing and supporting enterprise GIS systems.
- Experience in ArcGIS Enterprise administration.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting technical issues with server systems.
- Proven ability to consistently apply a systematic approach to system engineering based on best practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to customers, executives, other technical or non-technical staff.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field.
- Experience with deploying and supporting advanced ArcGIS Enterprise systems emphasizing high availability, disaster recovery, and Kubernetes.
- Experience in designing, deploying, migrating, and supporting enterprise GIS systems.
- Experience with advanced deployment patterns including Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of technologies that complement ArcGIS Enterprise such as RDBMS, NoSQL, object stores, SAN, NAS.
- Understanding of server-side servicing stack models, authentication methods (native credentials, domain-based, SAML, OIDC), and networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, TLS).
- Ability to lead customers and colleagues with well-defined methods to achieve successful outcomes at the intersection of Esri and enterprise IT.
- Ability to collaborate with Professional Services staff to solve complex technical challenges.
- Knowledge of system administration with Windows, Linux, and/or Kubernetes.
- Ability to employ knowledge of advanced deployment strategies including system recovery, system challenge resolution, and proof of concept exercises.
- Ability to support system upgrades and enterprise migration processes.
- Knowledge of scripting and/or programming languages such as shell scripting, Python, PowerShell, or similar.
