Job Description
A Database Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geospatial databases, supporting GIS workflows, and collaborating with clients and development teams to deliver GIS solutions using Esri technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise geodatabase models and strategies
- Configure and tune geospatial database management systems
- Collaborate with customers to develop GIS workflows and solutions
- Present technical demonstrations to diverse customer teams
- Support all phases of GIS solution implementation, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, and deployment
- Work with software development teams to enhance Esri capabilities and user experience
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in database architecture and administration for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP Hana.
- Familiarity with database design, data loading techniques, physical storage, backup recovery strategies, data retention solutions, data security, and enterprise database maintenance and tuning.
- Experience with geoprocessing tools, tasks, and ModelBuilder.
- Programming and scripting experience with Python and SQL.
- Exposure to performance assessment and tuning techniques.
- Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial types, spatial analysis, and map projections.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers.
- U.S. citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field.
