Job Description
The Enterprise Database Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise geospatial databases, working closely with clients to support GIS workflows and ensure optimal database performance using Esri technology and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise geodatabase models supporting GIS workflows
- Configure database maintenance, tuning, backup, recovery, and security strategies
- Collaborate with customers and partners to develop and validate GIS workflows
- Present complex GIS technical demonstrations to diverse audiences
- Support all phases of database implementation including requirements analysis, design, build, and deployment
- Work with software development teams to enhance Esri capabilities and user experience
Requirements
- 8 years of professional experience in database architecture and administration for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or SAP Hana
- Demonstrated experience with database design, data loading techniques, physical storage, backup recovery strategies and data retention solutions, data security, and enterprise database maintenance and tuning
- Demonstrated experience with geoprocessing tools, tasks, and ModelBuilder
- Programming and scripting experience with Python and SQL
- Familiarity with performance assessment and tuning techniques
- Familiarity with geospatial and mapping concepts such as spatial types, spatial analysis, map projections, and related topics
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to technical peers and non-technical project managers or customers
- US citizenship and willingness and ability to maintain a US Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field
