Job Description
A Senior Technical Consultant at Esri specializes in designing, implementing, and managing GIS solutions for electric and gas utilities, focusing on utility data modeling, migration, and the deployment of ArcGIS Utility Network to enhance data management and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and configure utility data models and migrate utility data to the ArcGIS Utility Network system
- Conduct data modeling workshops and perform QA/QC processes for utility geodatabases
- Analyze complex business and technical challenges to develop actionable GIS solutions
- Lead and manage ArcGIS-focused professional services projects and programs
- Provide strategic oversight for all phases of ArcGIS implementation
- Serve as a trusted advisor by delivering innovative Esri-based solutions to clients
- Facilitate workshops to translate real-world needs into GIS-driven solutions
- Support business development by identifying implementation patterns and opportunities
- Collaborate with teams and mentor junior staff to ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of professional experience applying GIS technology within the electric and gas utilities sector.
- Deep domain expertise across electric and gas utilities, including distribution and transmission systems.
- Proven experience implementing GIS data management workflows and frameworks specific to utility operations.
- Strong background in utility data analysis and data migration, including use of ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension, FME software, and ArcGIS geoprocessing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and administer enterprise GIS solutions leveraging Esri software products.
- Hands-on experience with the ArcGIS Utility Network system and related desktop, client-server, and web-based architectures.
- Proficient in scripting and query languages such as SQL and Python.
- Familiarity with RDBMS and geodatabase design principles and techniques.
- Strong understanding of Esri software capabilities and how they align with customer needs and business objectives.
- Proven ability to engage, collaborate, and facilitate discussions with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Skilled in evaluating and translating customer goals and strategies into actionable technical solutions using Esri products.
- Experience preparing proposals, including executive summaries, solution definitions, scopes of services, staffing plans, and pricing.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Electrical Engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a related STEM field.
