Job Description
A technical writer responsible for creating and maintaining user assistance documentation and enablement materials for GIS software products, working closely with subject matter experts and product teams to ensure a consistent and effective user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain user assistance documentation for GIS software products, including conceptual topics and workflows.
- Develop and champion various user assistance materials such as help guides, tutorials, blog articles, and videos.
- Manage documentation throughout the software development cycle to meet release requirements.
- Collaborate with product management, marketing, and engineering teams to ensure consistent and intuitive user experience.
- Provide feedback on software functionality and usability through testing and documentation review.
Requirements
- Five years of professional experience in a similar position supporting responsibilities related to technical writing and documentation.
- An understanding of documentation workflows that use HTML, XML, DITA, or Markdown.
- Experience producing web-based documentation using a content management system (CMS) that involves versioning and reuse of content.
- Ability to learn and use software as a customer would to produce user assistance (UA) materials based on the experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex topics concisely, clearly, and effectively.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage priorities and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with IT observability system monitoring software or ArcGIS software.
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, English, technical writing, or a related field.

Base salary range of $92,144 to $153,920 USD
