Job Description
The Principal Revenue Accountant will specialize in software revenue recognition under ASC 606, working cross-functionally to ensure accurate accounting for product offerings and supporting month-end, year-end, and audit processes within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in software revenue accounting under ASC 606
- Collaborate with product management and licensing teams to ensure proper revenue recognition for new and existing products
- Research revenue technical topics and develop policies, procedures, and white papers for sales arrangements
- Establish best practices for documenting revenue accounting policies in line with ASC 606
- Work with deal cycle partners to ensure revenue contract accuracy and compliance
- Support month-end, year-end close processes and audit activities
- Identify and implement process and procedure improvements in revenue accounting
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of prior experience in public accounting or equivalent corporate accounting experience.
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP relating to ASC 606.
- Experience with general ledger functions and month and year-end close process.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUPS and pivot tables.
- High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with accounting financial statements.
- Ability to work independently.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- US Citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or in a related field with an Accounting Certificate or qualification which meets CPA eligibility requirements.
