Job Description
The Principal Revenue Accountant will specialize in software revenue recognition under ASC 606, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate accounting for new and existing products, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and developing best practices for revenue policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in software revenue accounting under ASC 606.
- Collaborate with product management and licensing teams to ensure proper revenue recognition for new and existing products.
- Research revenue technical topics and develop supporting policies, procedures, and white papers.
- Establish best practices for documenting revenue accounting policies in line with ASC 606.
- Work with deal cycle partners to ensure revenue contract accuracy and compliance.
- Support month-end, year-end close processes and audit activities.
- Identify and implement process and procedure improvements within revenue accounting.
Requirements
- 8 years of prior experience in public accounting or equivalent corporate accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of US GAAP relating to ASC 606
- Experience with general ledger functions and month and year-end close process
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUPS and pivot tables
- High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with accounting financial statements
- Ability to work independently
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- US Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or in a related field with an Accounting Certificate or qualification, which meets the CPA eligibility
