Job Description
A Landscape Technician responsible for maintaining and developing landscapes and urban forests through planting, pruning, irrigation, and project management, requiring extensive knowledge of horticulture and landscape practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain landscapes by blowing leaves, debris, and trimming trees, shrubs, and groundcovers
- Perform weed mitigation and interior plant care
- Maintain, assess, and repair irrigation systems
- Prune and shape trees and shrubs naturally
- Plant shrubs and groundcovers
- Assess and report landscape issues and needs
- Manage and coordinate landscape projects from start to finish
Requirements
- Four years of experience in the landscape industry
- Three years of irrigation experience
- Horticulture knowledge
- Experience with hand tools such as shovels, pruners, hand saws, and power tools including blowers, chain saws, line trimmers, and more
- Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting or carrying a minimum of 50 pounds by applying proper body mechanics
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Self-motivated with the ability to take direction and follow through
- Possess and utilize good interpersonal skills and attention to detail
- A valid California driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed
- High school diploma or equivalent
