Job Description
A Data Scientist II at Esri is responsible for developing and deploying machine learning and data analytics solutions that address customer challenges, with a focus on geospatial and location intelligence data, to support various industries and domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with customers to understand their needs and develop data science solutions.
- Build analytics systems using data mining, statistics, and machine learning techniques.
- Write clean, collaborative, and version-controlled code to process big and streaming data.
- Perform feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and deploy models to production.
- Develop reusable geospatial machine learning components for demonstrations and rapid prototyping.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on machine learning experience, including building and evaluating supervised and unsupervised models in academic research or industry
- Proficiency in Python for data science workflows, including data wrangling, exploratory analysis, and model development
- Solid foundation in statistics and the mathematical concepts underlying machine learning algorithms
- Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) across diverse data sources and systems
- Ability to produce clear data visualizations that communicate analytical results to stakeholders
- Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborate across organizational boundaries
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or a related quantitative field
