Lead and manage Esri's in-house media relations team to develop strategic communications, build relationships with media and influencers, and promote the company's GIS technology through various media channels and events.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the in-house media relations team to develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, editors, and reporters.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all public relations inquiries and activities related to Esri.
Oversee the creation, review, and approval of press releases and communication materials.
Develop and implement media relations and external communication strategies in partnership with leadership.
Represent Esri at events and strategic initiatives to promote the company's brand and messaging.
Create and manage communication plans for events, campaigns, and initiatives globally.
Identify and secure media opportunities, interviews, and press placements with key stakeholders and media outlets.
Build and maintain relationships with media, bloggers, influencers, and industry partners.
Coach, mentor, and lead the media relations team, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Collaborate with senior executives and other stakeholders to align communication strategies with business goals.
Analyze media relations results, industry trends, and implement workflow improvements to enhance effectiveness.
Requirements
Eight (8) years of experience working in media relations.
Five (5) years of experience coaching and managing a team working with executive-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated success of securing media placements and working with executive level stakeholders.
Demonstrated innovative approach to communications strategy for technology companies.
Experience in journalist style writing and storytelling.
Ability to work on and oversee multiple projects at a time and with tight deadlines.
Availability to travel 10-20% of the time to serve in official capacity as lead of PR for Esri.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, English, or a related field.
