Job Description
The position involves providing technical support for research projects related to environmental science, including atmospheric sciences, air quality modeling, and laboratory work, primarily for the U.S. EPA. It offers hands-on experience in designing, developing, and executing technical research in a multidisciplinary environment for early-career professionals or recent graduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the development, design, and execution of research projects related to environmental science and engineering.
- Assist in decontamination, consequence management research, and validation of measurement methods.
- Conduct source emission characterizations and data collection in atmospheric sciences and related fields.
- Support research involving air quality simulation modeling and use of specialized laboratories and machine shops.
- Collaborate with senior staff to develop work plans, quality assurance plans, health and safety plans, and project reports.
Requirements
- The candidate must have a strong technical background relevant to engineering, science, or related fields.
- The candidate must have excellent problem-solving skills.
- The candidate must have the ability to collaborate across teams to drive innovation.
- The candidate must be highly motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- The candidate must be a recent graduate or early-career professional seeking hands-on experience in technical research projects.
- The candidate must be willing to work in specialized laboratories and machine shops including fabrication machine shops, Metrology laboratory, and other analytical and microbiological laboratories.
- The candidate must have the ability to assist in designing, developing, and optimizing solutions, and executing technical projects under the guidance of senior staff.
- The candidate must be able to work with senior staff to write work plans, quality assurance project plans, health and safety plans, and reports for work performed by ERG.
